Luke 22: 39-44
39 Then, accompanied by the disciples, Jesus left the upstairs room and went as usual to the Mount of Olives.
40 There he told them, “Pray that you will not give in to temptation.”
41 He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, 42 “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
43 Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him.
44 He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.
▣ A person who prays the same but experiences the power is the person who prays longer.
We should pray as long and as much as we can. The power of prayer is to pray long.
As the prayer time increases, the answers to prayer increase.
The Lord also told us not to give up and pray for a long time (Luke 18:1).
Isaac also prayed for his son for 20 years (Genesis 25), and people of prayer like Martin Luther, John Wesley, and E. M. Bounds all prayed more than 3 hours a day.
There are three reasons why Christians should pray long.
1. Prayer is lighting a fire.
Prayer is often compared to fire.
It is said that the fire of prayer has come on and that the fire of prayer has ignited.
It is also a metaphor for the great power of prayer just as the power of fire is powerful.
A fire starts with a small spark, but gradually spreads to a large fire.
It takes time to make a fire.
But putting out a fire that has already been started is more difficult.
Just as a fire kindles a fire over time, if you pray for a long time, you can receive the fire of answers.
It is more difficult to stop praying when the fire of prayer is ignited.
As prayer time increases, the power of prayer increases.
Quantitative increases lead to qualitative changes.
2. Prayer is a spiritual warfare.
Prayer is not a spiritual game.
If you want to do it, do it, and if you want to quit, it's not enough.
Prayer is a spiritual warfare.
The Lord also told us to always watch and pray so that we do not fall into temptation.
Prayer must overcome Satan's temptations to gain power and power.
The altitudes at which an airliner flies and the altitude at which a fighter jet flies are different.
A fighter must fly at a higher altitude than the enemy to win.
Prayer must overcome Satan to ascend to the throne of heaven.
Prayer must be prayed long enough to overcome Satan.
3. Prayer is saving.
People withdraw money from the bank.
There is a lot of money in the bank.
But not everyone withdraws money from the bank.
Not everyone can go to the bank to get money.
You need to have some money in your savings so you can withdraw it.
Prayer is saving.
As much as I prayed, the joy of answering comes when I need it.
19 And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid[a] on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit[b] on earth will be permitted in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19).
The answer to prayer is that what you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and what you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Just as you withdraw as much as you save, you receive answers as much as you pray.
The more you save, the more money you will find.
The longer you pray, the more answers you receive. Amen
