First, Second, and Third Priority of the Gratitude (Colossians 1:3-6, 12-14)

If only you express gratitude well, you can lead a good life of faith. This is the reason that we should seek the 'conditions and causes of the gratitude specifically. The first reason of the general gratitude is the gratitude for what has been received. There is a lyric 'count your blessings in hymn 429. When you count your blessings, you can recollect what you should pay thanks. I have thought the blessings our church has received in this one year. First, it is the newly renovated First Education Building. God has provided us with a place for the next generation, a place of meeting and fellowship. 1 feel gratitude for opening the front yard of the main church building. We have come to be able to hold concerts and have fellowship with our neighbors around before the Lord. Second, I hope you recall who you have to give thanks to: The New Testament says the most universal condition for appreciation is a person. I hope you will add more persons to those whom you always pay gratitude to. Third is the benefits you have received spiritually. What word is the most grateful among the words I have received this year? This should be in our remembrance. The crucial reason the Apostle Paul could lead a life of abundant gratitude is his lots of prayers. While praying and remembering the gists of gratitude, his life became bountiful of gratitudes. When gratitudes for words are piled up, you can also receive the response well. When the grace gets deepened as the words are piled up, you can receive the response.

Three reasons for Paul's gratitude

The Apostle Paul mentions the gratitude in Colossians 1. We can find 'How we can thank better', 'What the more mature feature of the gratitude is through this text. There are faith, love, hope' in the background of Paul's gratitude. 'since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel,(vv. 4-5) The Aposde Paul says he thanks because the gospel works in the background of faith, love and hope". More specifically saying, it is that since the Gospel has worked, and so the Colossian church has borne fruit, he thanks for the fruit. Scholars tell 'faith, hope and love' refer to the highest virtues the believers should be equipped with. Faith, hope, and love' make soil with virtues. In this soil, the gospel comes to work powerfully. When the gospel works powerfully, it bears fruit. "We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ (1Thess 1:3). As we can see in the work produced by faith, the labor prompted by love and the endurance inspired by hope, faith, hope and love make us move and work dynamically. It becomes the soil in which the gospel operates actively. The first reason for the gratitude the Apostle Paul suggests is because of bearing fruit. The gospel is needed to bear fruit and the gospel operates in the soil of faith, hope and love. Let's be eager for the life of bearing fruit. I bless in the name of the Lord that you do not miss the heart of hope and passion for bearing fruit. I hope you and I crave heartily bearing the fruit of the Colossian saints that reached not only the i also the whole world (v.6), area but

The second reason for Paul's gratitude is very fundamental. "For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."(vs 1314). Paul explains deep gratitude comes form the fact that we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins' which is the basics of the faith. In order to help our understanding, he expresses it as 'rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son! We are rescued from the dominion of darkness and power. Even though we have been rescued by the

grace, we are often insensitive to sins. We fall into the sense of guilt so that we do not escape from it or are even obsessed with the feeling of guilt. This is a greatly unbiblical feature. However, we too rashly apply the gospel. The gospel reveals our sinful natures and cuts to our hearts. At this moment we should have a painful feeling and a spiritual struggle to resolve not to commit sins again. However, overlooking this process too easily, we go into the kingdom of the Son. This is spiritual ignorance and arrogance. Not to remember what Jesus did to rescue us from the dominion of darkness but to remember only that we are brought to the kingdom of the Son reduces the greatness of the gospel If our gratitude is getting weakened, it's likely because we have forgotten our state which was in the kingdom of darkness. We should have painful feeling against our sinful natures, against our arrogance and haughtiness of repeatedly committing sins, and against innate idleness, and have in the Lord the will to destroy these traits. At that time, we can give deep gratitude to God who brought us from the dominion of darkness to the kingdom of the Son.

The third reason for Paul's gratitude is in verse 12. "and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light" It means that we are grateful to God even though only a part of inheritance of the holy people was given to us, but we are more grateful for giving us the whole inheritance of the saints. And we are more grateful because this has been promised. Blessed gratitude is not restricted to what we received in the past. It is not ended in what we are enjoying now. Blessed gratitude is created from the confidence in what we will receive lastly in the future. There are often persons who want their present states will continue to remain as they are. There are also persons who are afraid they can not enjoy continuously what they are enjoying now even though it is small. We should hold on to the covenant We should hold on to the promise of God. God surely promised to give the whole Without staying in the part, we should have the eyes of faith which can look at the wide world God promised to give.

How to lead a life of better gratitude.

If so, how can we live a life of better gratitude? There was the gospel in the center of Paul's gratitude. There were words. Owing to the words, he could see other things he had received. He could be more grateful because through the words, he could see how people were able to live changed lives in the grace. the faith and love that ring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel (v5). All the gratitude begins with hearing the true message of the gospel. I desire for hearing the gospel every day. I bless in the name of the Lord you are able to hear the gospel every day. I hope you will become a saint whose heart always leaps up when you hear the gospel. I hope your ears are open to listen to the gospel better than others. This is the condition of deep gratitude. Paul gave thanks because the gospel was heard to his ears, because the fruit of the gospel was bome, and because the fruit was bome in the person and throughout the whole world. The expression you have already heard' means to have heard decisively. It is the state that signifies the gospel is embeded in the heart. Those who have the gospel ingrained in their hearts like to hear the gospel continuously. The gospel ingrained in our hearts cultivate our hearts to long for hearing the gospel continuously. How can we express gratitude well?' There should be the gospel We are able to listen to the gospel every day. In the meantime, I bless in the name of the Lord that we all widen the dominion of gratitude to what we have received from God and to p persons God has given us
