36. Blessing Prayer
36. Blessing Prayer
Genesis 27:30-35
30 As soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and almost before Jacob had left his father, Esau returned from his hunt.
31 Esau prepared a delicious meal and brought it to his father. Then he said, “Sit up, my father, and eat my wild game so you can give me your blessing.”
32 But Isaac asked him, “Who are you?”
Esau replied, “It’s your son, your firstborn son, Esau.”
33 Isaac began to tremble uncontrollably and said, “Then who just served me wild game? I have already eaten it, and I blessed him just before you came. And yes, that blessing must stand!”
34 When Esau heard his father’s words, he let out a loud and bitter cry. “Oh my father, what about me? Bless me, too!” he begged.
35 But Isaac said, “Your brother was here, and he tricked me. He has taken away your blessing.”
▣ There are two kinds of people in the world.
There are people who are physically blessed and those who are spiritually blessed.
A person who is physically blessed is someone who can give what he has in his hand.
He is someone who can give money and give food.
A person of spiritual blessing is a person who can ask for blessings.
These are people who can give as much as they believe in the Spirit, leaving what they have in their hands.
He is someone who can bless you according to your faith.
He who can give what he has in his hands gives as much as he can.
However, those who can bless with faith even if they do not have anything in their hands can give as much as the measure of faith.
It is a greater blessing if a father can bless for his children even if they are poor and do not have money to give from their children.
Being able to bless is a blessing.
Blessed is the one who holds the key to the heavenly storehouse.
19 And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid[a] on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit[b] on earth will be permitted in heaven.” (Matthew 16: 19).
The people of the Old Testament were well aware of the power of blessing.
In those days, when the death of the father drew near, he called in the high-ranking son, laid his hand on his head, and blessed his future.
The family regarded the words of this proclamation as a will.
These words had the spiritual authority and power to bring success, prosperity, and health to their sons in the future.
Look at the story of Isaac's two sons, Jacob and Esau.
Jacob deceived his father Isaac and took his blessing.
Jacob takes away the blessing Esau deserves, his firstborn son.
He doesn't seem worthy of the blessing.
But the blessing on Jacob is valid.
Here we discover a very important fact.
1. Blessings are not based on the condition of the person being blessed.
Blessings come from the benefactor, not based on the condition of the person receiving the blessing.
God's blessings come from the one who gives the blessing, not the one who receives it. If anyone asks for a blessing, God's grace will come.
Although Jacob used an unclean method, the blessing came through Isaac's prayer.
Jacob lied to his father Isaac.
19 Jacob replied, “It’s Esau, your firstborn son. I’ve done as you told me. Here is the wild game. Now sit up and eat it so you can give me your blessing.”
(Gen. 27:19).
20 Isaac asked, “How did you find it so quickly, my son?”
“The Lord your God put it in my path!” Jacob replied. (Genesis 27:20).
24 “But are you really my son Esau?” he asked.
“Yes, I am,” Jacob replied. (Gen. 27:24).
Jacob was not worthy of the blessing, but Isaac blessed him, so he was blessed.
2. People pray for blessings and God gives blessings.
He has taken away your blessing.” (Genesis 27:33-35).
Isaac wrongly gave Jacob the blessing he should have given Esau.
Esau told all Jacob's deceit.
Isaac knew that he had been deceived by Jacob.
Isaac was blind and made his mistake.
Esau, who was unhappy, asked again to pray for blessings,
But he said the blessing had already passed to Jacob.
People pray for blessings, but God does the work.
Blessing prayers are prayers that believe and seek God.
3. Blessings come from God.
23 And the Lord told her, “The sons in your womb will become two nations. From the very beginning, the two nations will be rivals. One nation will be stronger than the other; and your older son will serve your younger son.” (Genesis 25:23).
Isaac made a mistake, but the truth was God's will.
Blessing children is the channel through which God's will is done.
Words are not smoke that disappears in the air, but a fragrance that rises before the throne of God.
God acts according to our words.
Blessing prayers are blessings.
Being able to bless is a blessing.
Blessing is a blessing. Amen
