1 Samuel 19: 18-24
18 David fled and went to Ramah, and went to Samuel, and Saul came to him.
And all that he had done, David and Samuel went to live in Naioth.
19 A certain man spoke to Saul, saying, David is at Naioth in Ramah. hamae
20 Saul sent messengers to arrest David, and when they saw the prophets prophesying and Samuel standing as their chief, the Spirit of God came upon Saul's messengers, and they also prophesied.
21 A certain man informed Saul, and Saul sent other messengers, and they also prophesied, so Saul sent messengers again a third time, and they also prophesied.
22 Then Saul also went to Ramah, and when he arrived at the great well at Segu, he asked, "Where are Samuel and David?" Some said to him, "At Naioth in Ramah.
23 And Saul went to Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God came upon him as well, and he walked and prophesied as far as Naioth in Ramah.
24 He also took off his clothes and prophesied before Samuel, and lay naked all day and night. Therefore the saying goes, Is Saul among the prophets?
▣ Christians must be filled with the Holy Spirit.
The greatest obstacle to a man's life as a spirit is his natural nature.
The only way to overcome the fleshly nature is to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Saul, who rejected God's will, was possessed by envy and hatred for David.
He finally sends a messenger to Naioth, Ramah, to arrest David.
However, the messengers also belong to the group of prophets, and the Spirit of God comes and prophesies.
20 he sent troops to capture him. But when they arrived and saw Samuel leading a group of prophets who were prophesying, the Spirit of God came upon Saul’s men, and they also began to prophesy. 21 When Saul heard what had happened, he sent other troops, but they, too, prophesied! The same thing happened a third time. (1 Samuel 19:20-21).
Saul sends another messenger, but they also prophesy.
He sent messengers for the third time, and they also prophesy.
23 But on the way to Naioth in Ramah the Spirit of God came even upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy all the way to Naioth! 24 He tore off his clothes and lay naked on the ground all day and all night, prophesying in the presence of Samuel. The people who were watching exclaimed, “What? Is even Saul a prophet?” (1 Samuel 19:23-24)
Now Saul went himself.
But the Holy Spirit also came upon Saul, prophesying, and lying naked for a day.
No one can overcome the power of the Holy Spirit.
1. The Holy Spirit works equally on all people.
20 he sent troops to capture him. But when they arrived and saw Samuel leading a group of prophets who were prophesying, the Spirit of God came upon Saul’s men, and they also began to prophesy. (1 Samuel 19:20)
The prophets were filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit came upon everyone who lived in Naioth, Ramah, where they lived.
It also came to David.
It also came to Saul's messengers, who seemed to have nothing to do with it.
And it came to Saul.
2. The Holy Spirit controls the soul.
21 When Saul heard what had happened, he sent other troops, but they, too, prophesied! The same thing happened a third time. (1 Samuel 19:21)
No one has power in the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Saul's messengers went to arrest David, but they did not have any strength and were possessed by the Holy Spirit.
Saul himself must have been more alert and went to arrest David.
But the Holy Spirit also came upon Saul.
In the presence of the Holy Spirit, man's will or nature has no power.
3. The Holy Spirit prophesies with the Spirit.
24 He tore off his clothes and lay naked on the ground all day and all night, prophesying in the presence of Samuel. The people who were watching exclaimed, “What? Is even Saul a prophet?” (1 Samuel 19:24).
Prophecy is the announcement of God's will for us.
When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you will understand the will of God.
If you do not know the will of God, pray for the filling of the Holy Spirit.
The only way to overcome human weakness and obey God's guidance is to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Amen
