41. Prayer in the Lord
John 15:7
7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
▣ British people like to drink tea.
I think black tea is a healthy drink.
That's because people in the UK started drinking black tea and their lifespan increased by 15
years. It's not entirely unfounded.
The fact is that they started boiling water to drink black tea.
Boiling water was good for health.
Drinking safe water was more important than the black tea itself.
The same is true of the world of prayer.
It is true that prayer is the power to solve problems, but it is important to know what it really means.
When it comes to answering prayers, it is very beneficial to know what the true power is.
There is a prerequisite for prayer in the words, “If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you want.”
When we say that prayer is about asking what we want and getting it done, we must first meet the prerequisite 'if you abide in me and my words abide in you'. Prayer must first restore our relationship with the Lord.
Meeting the Lord is the heart of prayer.
1. Prayer is a conversation with God.
12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12).
Christians are children of God.
God is his father. As children grow older, it is very important to spend time talking to their parents.
Statistics have been published that among Korean teenagers, students who eat breakfast with their families every day grow up better than those who do not.
Having breakfast is important, but having a lot of conversation at the table naturally results in an educational effect.
They say that they believe in God and live, but if they do not have a relationship with each other, it is of no use.
Prayer is to connect with God like making a phone call or accessing the Internet.
Prayer is always meeting and talking to God.
We ask for our needs through prayer, and we understand God's will through prayer.
2. Prayer is drawing closer to God
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you (James 4:8).
Prayer is a conversation with God. Not all conversations are great conversations.
1) There are conversations where communication is not possible even if we talk to each other.
Obviously, we talk to each other, but we can't convey each other's meaning.
Because they don't respect each other.
2) There are conversations where I can't speak honestly.
It's a conversation where you can't talk deeply and just talk about it as a courtesy.
The reason the conversation level stops here is that the relationship with the other person is not deep.
When we trust each other and are close, we can have a deeper conversation.
The same goes for prayers to God.
In order to deepen prayer, which is a conversation with God, we need to meet
God often. We need to draw closer to God.
The place of prayer is a place to meet God and a place to draw closer to God.
The Lord is not a physical being, but a spiritual being.
The fleshly beings dwell in a certain space, but the Lord does not.
We do not have to go anywhere to meet, but we can meet at any place when we
pray. Prayer draws you closer to the Lord.
Prayer makes you closer to the Lord.
3. Prayer is to have the Lord in you.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and sup with him, and he with me (Revelation 3:20).
The Lord always wants to come into us.
How can the Lord come into us? To have the Lord within you is a spiritual encounter. It means spiritual fellowship with the Lord. When I pray, I invite the Lord into me.
One of the evidences that the Lord is in me is hearing His voice. It is to experience the guidance of the Lord.
If you look at the great people of God, they are all devoted to prayer.
Moses was always led by prayer in the wilderness for 40 years.
Daniel prayed even though he went into the lions' den.
Esther prayed with the determination that 'if I die, I will die.
David prayed to God first and started everything.
As mentioned earlier, God's work of delivering Israel from bondage in Egypt
began with the prayer of Moses.
Esther's prayer that risked her life saved the nation.
The early church began with the prayers of the apostles.
People of God can only meet God through prayer.
Our failure to meet God is not because God is not close to us, but because he
does not realize that God is present in us.
Without prayer, we cannot find God. Amen
